Habitat and Countryside Management

Sharp Environment is available to work with private landowners, the public and private sectors to manage / maintain natural environments in the most environmentally friendly way. This includes a number of different activities and practical skills to protect / conserve wildlife and the natural habitat, including woodland, wetland and scrubland etc. Projects include a variety of examples, including woodland management that covers tree work and clearance to manage this habitat. Through to the use of brush cutters and pesticides for scrub control etc in areas such as footpaths. The following list provides some examples of work;

  • Woodland - clearing and treatment of rhododendron to enable the habitat to be replanted with native species.
  • Wetland - clearance of vegetation i.e. treatment & clearing of willow from a wetland to maintain the habitat for wildlife.
  • Scrub control - Scrub clearance / control to improve habitats for the Fritillary butterfly.
  • Footpath maintenance - maintenance of footpaths and public rights of way.
  • Site furniture - implementation of site furniture, including hedges and fencing.

There are also project co-ordination services available to help you develop and manage a habitat or wildife project. For example Sharp Environment is currently in the process of developing a woodland habitat creation project with a client, which includes investigating ideas, establishing a community group, finance, funding applications, compiling project documentation (including survey work) and project implementation / management.
